The Centre for Canadian Studies at Brock University, in collaboration with the Faculty of Education, invites submissions for Two Days of Canada at School, to be held on 27-28 March 2025.

This interdisciplinary conference, part of the Centre’s annual Two Days conference series, will bring together researchers from diverse fields of scholarship to exchange ideas and generate dynamic interaction in a welcoming and collaborative environment. This year’s conference coincides with the sixtieth year of the founding of Brock University, and therefore shall draw considerable interest from within and beyond the academy.

Topics for this conference, as befitting an interdisciplinary event, are intentionally broad. The only restriction is that the research must include a Canadian focus. The following list is intended only as a sample of the kinds of ideas the program committee welcomes:

• Education and the history of Canada
• The politics of Canadian education
• Issues related to Canadian educational policy
• Cultural shifts in Canadian education
• Equity, Identity, and Inclusion in Canadian Education
• Educational innovations
• Indigenous educational experiences
• Immigration and Canadian education
• Emerging pedagogical approaches
• The intersection of political extremism and educational policy
• Comparative education – Canada and other countries

The program committee invites submissions for both individual presentations and for full panels of 3-4 presentations. We are also open to creative submissions that move beyond these two formats.
Those submitting proposals for individual presentations should send an abstract of no more than 300 words, along with a brief CV or biography. Panel proposals should include a brief outline of the panel topic (maximum 300 words) and of individual presenters’ proposals (maximum 200 words each), along with brief CVs or biographies for the panelists. Panels should also ideally identify a chair or moderator. The committee also welcomes suggestions for round table discussions.

In addition to faculty members and graduate students, we encourage and value proposals from community members and groups outside of the university sector.

The deadline for submissions is 15 January 2025. Successful applicants will be informed of the program committee’s decision by 31 January 2025.
